The Danish EU Presidency sets climate and energy on the agenda
January 31, 2012One of the top priorities of the Danish EU Presidency is a green Europe, an agenda that Danfoss fully supports. Both the Danish government and Danfoss stress the benefits of picking the low-hanging fruits which energy-efficient technologies offer. To show the potential for higher energy efficiency in practice and demonstrating the major energy-saving potential in making European homes more energy-efficient, Danfoss has sponsored a number of intelligent thermostats and installed them in conference buildings that are set to host top-level meetings throughout the Presidency.

When Europe’s top politicians meet over the next five months in Denmark to discuss climate and energy, Danfoss will be close to the action.
Denmark will hold the Presidency of the EU Council for the next six months, and the Danish government has green solutions and energy infrastructure as one of its main priorities of the presidency.
As a part of highlighting energy-efficient solutions in real-time, Danfoss has chosen to install its new intelligent thermostats, living by Danfoss, in three of the buildings where meetings will be held over the coming months.
A total of 25 thermostats have already been installed in two of the three buildings.
The purpose is to demonstrate the large unresolved potential of making European buildings more energy-efficient using well-proven technology.
In Europe, there are approximately 190 million buildings, most of which were built before energy efficiency was a focus area. All of them have the potential for improved energy efficiency.
The living by Danfoss thermostats are a fine example of known technology which can save energy and reduce CO2 emissions. The thermostat is primarily for use in single or semi-detached houses and saves up to 23% energy, compared with a 15-year-old thermostat.
France can save billions with new thermostat
France is a very good example of the unresolved potential existing in Europe.
Today, there are approximately 110 million radiators installed in France – and half of them are fitted with old manual heating valves. Upgrading these old manual valves to the new intelligent living by Danfossthermostats can reduce the energy consumption, according to a study carried out by Prof. Dr. Ing. Hirschberg from Fachhochschule Aachen in Germany.
Factsliving by Danfoss is a new series of thermostats, which brings the traditional radiator thermostat into the digital age and enables easier, more precise control of home heating.
The digital display on the front of every thermostat allows you to set the exact desired room temperature, making it easier to achieve optimal comfort.
