Danfoss delivers solar inverters to one of the largest solar plants in the world – to be built near Flensburg, Germany
Danfoss Solar Inverters has received an order of more than 80 MW from German project developer Möhring Energie GmbH, who is going to build a huge photovoltaic plant at the former NATO airfield in Eggebek, 20km south of Flensburg. With a capacity of more than 80 MW the plant will be able to supply more than 100,000 people with climate-friendly power.
When the new solar plant in Eggebek will start producing electricity later this year, it will at the same time be one of the most effective solar plants in the world, making a positive green impact on the energy production in Schleswig-Holstein.
“At Danfoss Solar Inverters, we are proud to be chosen as one of the largest photovoltaic plants in the world, and we look forward to working with the project partners to make this one of the most streamlined photovoltaic plants the market has seen. Within the next 13 weeks, we will be delivering more than 5,000 of our TLX Pro inverters to the new plant,” says Morten Buhl Sørensen, head of Danfoss Solar Inverters.
He continues: “Winning this project – the biggest ever for Danfoss Solar Inverters – underlines our strong position in the market for big installations. We have introduced a unique, modular inverter solution for big plants which challenges the traditional approach in the market. And with this huge project it is obvious that this modular concept has literally no size limit. Therefore, it is a major showcase for us in the global photovoltaic market, and we expect this to open new interesting possibilities in the market for us.”
Danfoss’ concept makes it possible to significantly increase the energy output of a given area – in this case an airfield – because it allows more solar modules to be installed while at the same time utilizing the solar modules to the maximum.
Danfoss inverters already produce solar energy in another big plant of 12 MW developed by Möhring Energy GmbH. The plant is located in Busenwurth – the hometown of Möhring Energy GmbH.
